Evolution Simulator App Introduction

Introduction

The Evolution Simulator is a remarkable non-profit project dedicated to demonstrating the fundamental principles of evolution. It aims to provide a clear understanding of how evolution works, without claiming to be the most accurate and realistic simulator ever created.

The Simulation Process

  • Car Creation: The simulation begins with creating cars having a random genome. Each car's genome consists of triads of numbers.
  • Genome Details: The first triad contains information about the number of rims, wheels, and the maximum width of the car. The subsequent triads describe the ribs and wheels.
  • Rib Information: The triad for ribs describes its position in space, including the length, angle of inclination in plane XY, and displacement from the center on the Z-axis.
  • Wheel Information: The triad for wheels describes its characteristics like the radius, the number of the top to which it is attached, and the thickness.
  • Driving and Death: Cars drive directly on an abstract terrain (the road). If a car can no longer move forward (stuck, turned over, or fell off the road), it dies.
  • Generation Change: When all machines die, a new generation is created. Each new car is created by mixing the genomes of two previous generation cars. The more distance a car travels compared to others, the more offspring it leaves. The genes of each created car are also mutated at a given probability.

Customizable Parameters

  • Evolution Settings: These allow controlling general parameters like the number of cars per generation and the probability of mutation.
  • World Settings: These control the parameters of the road and gravity.
  • Genome Settings: These control the maximum values of genome parameters, the number of ribs, wheels, and the width of the car.

Research and Analysis Tools

Located on the Statistics tab, these tools provide all the statistics on the course of natural selection from the first generation to the present. This makes it easy to analyze the information and better understand the theory of evolution.

In conclusion, the Evolution Simulator is a valuable tool for understanding the basics of evolution and offers a wide range of customizable options for in-depth exploration.
