Clickless Mouse App Introduction

Introduction

Clickless Mouse is a remarkable software designed to make computer usage more accessible for individuals with various health issues such as repetitive strain injury, carpal tunnel syndrome, and certain motor disabilities. This application allows users to operate a mouse without the need for clicking, simply by moving it.

How It Works

By reacting to user mouse movements, Clickless Mouse simulates left/right mouse button click, double left mouse button click, and left/right mouse button holding. It offers a seamless alternative for those who find traditional mouse clicking difficult or painful. Users can even use it with a virtual keyboard, like Free Virtual Keyboard, to type by moving the mouse. This integration provides a comprehensive solution for full computer control through mouse movement.

Mouse Control Mechanisms

When you want to perform a mouse action, such as clicking or holding a button, you simply stop moving the mouse. Wait for the squares to appear and then move the mouse cursor to the chosen square:

  • Top center square = double left mouse button click
  • Top left square = left mouse button click
  • Top right square = right mouse button click
  • Left square = left mouse button holding on/off
  • Right square = right mouse button holding on/off

When the mouse cursor is inside a square for a sufficient time (depending on the cursor time in the square to register the click setting), it automatically moves back to the previous position to simulate the corresponding action. If the mouse cursor is too close to the top edge of the screen, the squares for LMB click, RMB click, and LMB double click are shown below the cursor. If it's too close to the left/right edge, the square size decreases to ensure at least 25% is visible. By default, the smallest size is 60% of the normal size. Squares won't decrease if they wouldn't be visible due to the screen edge.

Screen Panning

With the screen panning mode enabled, moving the mouse cursor to the edges of the screen allows you to press keys such as up (top edge), down (bottom edge), left (left edge), and right (right edge). While this mode is active, the squares don't show when the mouse cursor is at the screen edge.

First Steps

  1. Type your diagonal screen size and press the 'Set recommended square size button.'
  2. Decide which mouse functionality you need. Most users typically require 'LMB Click,' 'RMB click,' 'LMB click,' 'LMB double click,' and 'LMB holding.'
  3. If you have a motor disability, consider increasing 'Cursor idle time before squares appear,' 'Time to start mouse movement after squares appear,' and 'Square size.'

Lowest Possible Values

The program has predefined lowest possible values to ensure smooth operation:

  • Cursor idle time before squares appear [ms]: 100
  • Time to start mouse movement after squares appear [ms]: 300
  • Cursor time in square to register click [ms]: 10
  • Size [px]: 10
  • Border width [px]: 1
  • Minimum size [%]: 10

Clickless Mouse truly revolutionizes the way we interact with the computer, providing a more comfortable and accessible experience for a wide range of users.
